The critics are stating that the 2012 Audi Q7 TDI, in its sixth year is aging well and the competition in the luxury SUV segment will have some catching up to do in order to meet its fuel efficiency, yet sporty offerings. Other luxury SUV makers don’t seem concerned though because they feel the Audi Q7 is still sluggish and ungainly to truly be considered “luxury”. We will have to wait and see how the sales numbers play out.
Speaking of sales numbers, the 2012 Audi Q7 TDI is set to start at $51,450 with an additional $875 destination fee tacked onto that. If you want the Prestige version that comes with two different S line performance packages, you are looking at adding an additional $18,300 to the starting price, so about $70,625 for having it all. Apparently “all” for Audi is a pretty impressive mix of luxury, utility and enviable on and off road performance and handling. Of course, for that price it had better be.
Powering the 2012 Audi Q7 TDI is a 3.0 liter V6 turbodiesel that gives 225 horsepower and 406 pound feet of torque. While that would be some definite solid motion for a sedan, in the heavy Audi, the horses have to work harder to pull the load. You can go from 0 to 60 in about 8.5 seconds though, while not totally unfortunate, it doesn’t leave us as impressed as the price would suggest we should be.
The interior of the 2012 Audi Q7 TDI is either exciting or totally confusing depending on how much gadgetry you like in your ride. There is an array of buttons and switches to things like duplicate user inputs along with a fully functional ignition key slot, a redundant start button and a completely separate stop button. This is all nestled in high quality materials though that will definitely create a comfy experience for drivers and passengers.
