2012 Hyundai Veloster Review
The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is an original looking hatchback aimed at capturing the younger drivers. Hyudnai made sure to add to the 2012 Hyundai Veloster that will appeal to the busy lifestyle that the younger crowd can appreciate. One of the unusual features is a trick third door that dove tails into the front-hinged rear door on the passenger’s side of the car. This is helpful when loading or unloading the car with any variety of work or sports equipment, groceries, or people headed for the third row seating.
Once inside the cabin you notice that the 2012 Hyundai Veloster has all the high tech benefits that any younger driver could possibly want. Hosted in Hyundai’s BlueLink telematics system is a seven-inch color LCD touch screen, conveniently positioned in the top of the center stack. The LCD screen can be used to monitor the Veloster’s performance. The navigation is second to none and even does better than the iPhone. Style or tech packages are available that offer an upgraded stereo system with satellite radio and Pandora.
Under the hood, the 2012 Hyundai Veloster hosts a direct injected 1.6-liter 4 cylinder, the same engine that Hyundai uses in the Accent and is available in a 6 speed manual or 6 speed dual clutch. It offers a humble 123 pound feet of torque and 138 horsepower, not a good car for racing around in, but the up to 40 highway miles per gallon, most drivers won’t mind getting from 0 to 60 in just under 9 seconds.
the 2012 Hyundai Veloster starts at an affordable $18,075 which is for the standard options. The tech package is an additional $2,000 and the dual-clutch box is another $1,250, which comes up to about $23,325 for a complete set of options. While this is in direct competition with more powerful and still efficient compacts such as the Chevy Cruze, the styling and third door set it apart.
