The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 has been around for a few years now and still enjoys the sales it was getting when it was a brand new model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup of luxury sedans. Of course this leaves everyone curious as to what this newest version, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG could offer that hasn’t all ready been put out there from previous model years and it looks like Mercedes-Benz stepped up to the challenge to create a refreshed version that is sure to have Benz fan’s heart skipping a beat.
Apparently the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG has decided to grow up a bit with a new twin turbocharged 5.5 liter V8 that offers an amazing 518 horsepower and 519 pound feet of torque, making it one of the most intimidating sedans on the market today, not quite as powerful as the super sports cars, but getting ominously close to their power. Of course, if that isn’t enough for you, you can choose the AMG performance package which will boost the horses up to 550 and the pound feet of torque up to 590, but that really only saves you about .1 seconds going 0 to 60, the standard package will reach that in 4.4 seconds, while the upgraded package takes 4.3 seconds. Where the true additional power comes into play is while the slower version tops out at 155 mph, the AMG package cruises at speeds up to 186.
This new engine is just the tip of the iceberg for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG as it’s received upgrades throughout the exterior and interior including the new sports bucket seats to new, additionally reinforced ceramic brakes. What everyone seems super impressed with is the new dynamic lighting system and the CLS63 is the first in class to receive this. You can check out the video for more info about that. Overall, critics are saying the $115,000 sticker price seems reasonable for the amount of features offered in this new offering from Mercedes-Benz.
