From the looks of it the 2014 BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon is about to bring the famous station wagon back in an exciting way. If you remember the wood paneled station wagons of the 1970s, they were super cool for a minute and then something you didn’t want to be caught dead in. Not when you could opt for a hot SUV or crossover, those even replaced the soccer mom minivans for the most part. But BMW thinks this is the perfect time to bring the wagon back, and it’s not the embarrassing to be caught in wood paneled version either. No, they made it sophisticated and the new “in” vehicle for all those busy drivers who need extra room, but value fuel efficiency and drivability.

The 2014 BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon will hit the dealerships in April of next year and from the first look, it just might see people lining up in advance to make sure they can get their hands on one. The seats can be folded down in all sorts of different configurations, if they are all up, there is about 17.5 cubic feet of additional cargo space. Put them down and there is 53.0 cubic feet of space to put your golf club, soccer gear, groceries or whatever else you need for the trip.

You can also make sure you are going to get where you are going with an aggressive N20 twin scroll turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder. This four cylinder packs impressive power, 241 horses of it. It has an 11% fuel efficiency over the naturally aspirated six cylinder hosted in the previous models and offers a smoother drive. Of course the 2014 BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon is a BMW after all, so you can expect all the plush, high quality interior amenities that this automaker makes it a point to offer.
