The Cadillac Escalade has long been a favorite of oil barons and high rolling hip hop stars, but has been one of the more controversial SUVs for the rest of the luxury fans of this category. With this in mind, everyone is curious to see what kind of plans are in store to keep the over the top excess fans happy while also appealing to a more conservative type of luxury fan. We all know the V8 is one of the items that is considered a little “too much” for some and that General Motors has hinted that there may be a new twin turbo V6, as a 3.6 liter unit as a new option, but that is pretty much only a rumor at this point. What else is in store is apparently being kept under covers, literally. You can see for yourself in this most recent spy shot that was grabbed while the 2014 Cadillac Escalade was trying to sneak around the streets in testing mode.
What we do know for sure is that the new Cadillac Escalade will be set on the new GMT900 platform that is also being shared with the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. We can also guess through the heavy camouflage that there is going to be a new front fascia that seems to be inspired by the Escalade’s partners in crime, the Cadillac XTS and Cadillac ATS, of course in bigger proportions to fit the bigger vehicle. We can also see LED accent lighting that stretches from each headlamp all the way down to the lower bumper and hints of a huge, tight mesh grille also peak through.
It will be interesting to see the 2014 Cadillac Escalade without its camouflage covering. If it turns out anything like the XTS and ATS, it’s going to fly out the dealership showrooms faster than they can be produced.
