There is no better way to build up anticipation for something new than by teasing the public with just enough information to make their mouths water and that is exactly what is going on with the 2014 Mazda6. In the past few days there have been several high resolution images released that just give you enough of a view to want more, kind of like an image of a scantily dressed women teasing to bare it all while showing just enough to get your engine running.

What we can see is a distinctive looking new front fascia for the 2014 Mazda6 to sport around town. While this fascia is brand new for the Mazda6, it is not really new because it comes from the Kodo design language that was also used for the Takeri concept car and used on the production models of the 2013 CX-5 Crossover. It does seem fitting for the Mazda6 though and critics are agreeing that they prefer this facelift over the last generation’s fascia.

What people are really waiting to hear more about is what the 2014 Mazda6 will have under its hood. We expect the 2.0 liter Skyactiv inline four cylinder to be the engine of choice and that it will be mated to a six speed transmission. Mazda will be producing a 2.2 liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine but that one won’t show up in the states anytime soon and if it does, no one is quite sure if that will be in the Mazda6 or CX-5.

Additional details will probably have to wait until August 29 when Mazda plans on a press conference about the 2014 Mazda6. Later in September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show the Mazda6 along with the complete lineup is scheduled to make its global debut. In the meantime, the tease is on!
