While many people took a second glance at the Dodge Challenger, true Pentastar fans were holding their breath for a Barracuda and it looks like they won’t have to stay a sickly shade of blue for much longer. Of course some of them went ahead and made attempts to create their own retro Barracudas to fill the void, but that is the thing about retro cars, gorgeous, but will not keep up to date with the more advanced super sports cars that are making their way onto the roadways.

There is nothing else to do but wait out the debut of the 2015 SRT Barracuda, other than guess and talk about it, but that can be interesting speculation and Jon Sibul, commissioned by Car and Driver Magazine did his best to come up with a speculative idea of what the new Cuda will look like. From the looks of it in the image, it is going to be one hot beast.

Along with the looks though, what goes under the hood will be of importance. If rumors are correct though you could expect at least one variant of the new 2.4 liter Tigershark inline four engine and that will probably be force fed. Of course the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 would almost have to make an appearance and that one should get a direct injection at about the time the SRT Barracuda is set to launch from the dealerships which will give is a boost and help keep up with CAFE requirements. A Hemi V8 with direct injection, power and efficiency should be on board as well as a 5.7 liter and 6.4 liter, however, that none of that is confirmed, but we don’t think a Barracuda could live up to its name without a hemi.
