2013 Fiat 500 Turbo Review Video

Posted by on May 21, 2013 in Automotive News, Fiat | 0 comments

Not many cars can fit into just about any available parking space the way a Fiat 500 can. Urban drivers love to be able to jet around in these tiny compacts, but many of them just can’t stand feeling like all they can do is putt around the city when they would really like to zip around from point A to B. The 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo was created to do just that and it seems Fiat was able to get it right with this little car.

The 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo hosts a 1.4 liter MultiAir turbocharged inline four cylinder engine. This will give you 135 horsepower and 150 pound feet of torque. In this size car, that offer a definitely assertive driving experience. This is 25 fewer horses than what the Abarth offers, but more than the hatchback and you can look forward to getting from 0 to 60 in 6.9 seconds to help keep up with rush hour traffic.

Climbing inside the 2013 Fiat Turbo is a good reminder that this is a compact and if you have kids, pets, and other items to carry around with you, it’s not going to be the most comfortable. But for you, a passenger and perhaps some groceries, it should do just fine. The seats ride high so even though you are in a small car, you have the feeling of being just a little bigger than you really are.

The 2013 Fiat Turbo starts at $19,500 and there is a whole variety of options you can pick and choose through. The comfort and convenience package for an additional $650 should definitely be one option you choose is you want features such as automatic air conditioning, heated front seats and satellite radio. You can choose the Beats by Dr. Dre audio system for another $1,500.

2014 Ford Mustang GT Review Video

Posted by on May 20, 2013 in Automotive News, Ford, Press Releases | 0 comments

The 2014 Ford Mustang GT slipped quietly into the dealerships as an early release. Because this model is going to be replaced with a brand new version for 2015, it just didn’t seem to make sense to create too much fanfare for the current model. While it retains most of the previous version’s features, it does have a few nice updates and Pony Lovers should be thrilled. In fact, classic Pony fans might want to consider driving this version home, because it still has a more traditional “muscle car” image, including a more austere dashboard.

Whether you choose a classic color like the black 2014 Ford Mustang GT in the image or opt for new color options (Ruby Red Metallice or Oxford White) is up to you. You won’t be able to get your hands on a Boss 302 with this lineup though. The rumor is it will appear again someday in some new configuration, but for now, it’s adios and you will have to make do with something else.

The 2014 Ford Mustang GT has the same 5.0 liter V8 engine as the last model, not that anyone is complaining. It still offers up 420 horsepower and 390 pound feet of torque to offer some of that Fast and Furious driving vibe. It seems the EPA estimates might be set a little high. They state 26 miles per gallon where most drivers are reporting getting around 21 miles per hour. Still, for this go-mobile that’s not bad and all and let’s face, people who opt for a high performance Mustang aren’t that concerned with squeezing fuel efficiency.

The 2014 Ford Mustang GT isn’t going to impress the techy crowd too much with its absence of a touchscreen, but for those who love getting back to their roots of muscle car glory, with more speed than you probably thought possible a few years back, then this pony is definitely worth the test drive.

Turn the speakers down a bit, the GT in this video screams:

2014 Toyota Corolla Details Shared then Hidden

Posted by on May 10, 2013 in Automotive News, Toyota | 0 comments

Something unusual is going on over at the Toyota Auto Parts Blog. Information was released about the 2014 Toyota Corolla, but then taken away. The notice says, “Order guides are out, which means we’ve got lots of news to share. There have been a number of changes to the 2014 Corolla…but you’ll have to wait to find out about them. We’ll put the info back up later. Thanks for your understanding.” So those who didn’t get the quick sneak peak will have to wait. Apparently a Toyota dealer in Kansas had posted the information and Toyota wasn’t ready to share.

What we do know about the 2014 Toyota Corolla is that it will continue to host the same 1.8 liter four cylinder engine, but why fix something that isn’t broke? Toyota did give the engine some refreshes though including adding the Toyota’s Valvematic continuously variable valve timing. There will also be options of a four speed automatic that will come standard, or you can choose a six gear manual transmission. If you upgrade to the higher trim levels you can also choose a CVT. All this work is expected to boost the fuel efficiency ratings and give the car a better overall performance. This should be better than the current Corolla that is getting 132 horsepower and 128 pound feet of torque along with offering 27 city miles per gallon and 34 highway miles per gallon. But that is with a five speed manual version.

We also know there will be three trim levels, Toyota is calling them “base” levels. These will be the Toyota Corolla LE, Toyota Corolla S, and Toyota Corolla Eco. Odds and ends have been updated for these levels such as offering Softex leather, push button start and a navigation system. The rest of the details, including pricing should be available soon.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe Review Video

Posted by on May 8, 2013 in Automotive News, Honda | 0 comments

The Accord has been a stable vehicle in the Honda lineup for quite some time now, but there is a point where “stable” is just too boring and that’s when people turn to more exciting choices. Honda must’ve picked up on that though with the 2013 Honda Accord because this new model, while still stable, is far from boring. In fact everyone that gets behind the wheel mentions how “fun” it is to drive. While there are still complaints about what Honda can still improve on, this Accord is probably the best to date.

A 3.5 liter V6 engine is what’s standard for the 2013 Honda Accord and that will give you a pleasantly assertive 278 horsepower and 252 pound feet of torque. This engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission that sends power to the front wheels. This system is equipped with Variable Cylinder Management which works to shut down one of the two banks so the car will operate on three cylinders at a time when cruising at an idle until it’s time to accelerate and then all banks will fire back up. This creates better fuel efficiency. Speaking of fuel efficiency, you can expect to get about 21 city miles per gallon and 32 highway miles per gallon or 25 combined.

You can expect to pay $32,350.00 and up depending on which options your choice for your own 2013 Honda Accord. Whether that is going to help it remain in competition with the rest of the new sedans is hard to tell because this segment has a major players that are going to be tough to keep up with. The biggest complaint about this Accord is the infotainment system. This system has two color LCD screens with two different control schemes. The main screen is inconvenient for the driver to reach easily. Hopefully Honda will do something about that in future versions.

Volkswagen Roadster Still Under Consideration

Posted by on May 7, 2013 in Automotive News, Car Rumors, Volkswagen | 0 comments

People that were there for the past Detroit Auto Show were treated to a rare breed. It was the Volkswagen BlueSport concept (See image above). This beauty had everyone talking and excited about when a production version would be made, but Volkswagen could not confirm that, or even if it would ever make an appearance. However, it looks as if this sporty little roadster just might come into being after all, although that hasn’t been officially confirmed.

What we do know is that the automaker’s design chief, Walter de Silva, said. He commented, “I’m not the only one in our company who is convinced that a small roadster wouldn’t be the worst thing for Volkswagen. This is a vehicle that we particularly like, and we always have in mind.”

The Volkswagen BlueSport concept was the brain child of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche with each brand taking their own variant of the two seater coupe. Knowing that these major players were all in on the action makes the Volkswagen version even more appealing. If it does come out it will be going head to head with the Mazda MX-5.

A 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine is hosted in the Volkswagen BlueSport concept, but the production version could end up hosting a variety of gasoline TSI engines. For the concept model, the turbodiesel gives 258 pound feet of torque and 177 horsepower that gives the roadster a fun, if not all out aggressive feel. It will take you from 0 to 62 in about 6.6 seconds, so that’s not too bad either. When you add the ability to cruise at speeds of around 140 miles per hour, it heats it up even more. Best yet, it will get 54.7 miles per gallon.

Only time will tell whether the Volkswagen Roadster comes out as a production vehicle, so keep your fingers crossed.
