The BMW 3 Series has been the vehicle to beat when it’s come to ruling the luxury sedan class, making it perfect sense to put the BMW 3 Series and the new Cadillac ATS up to some head to head testing to see who would come out supreme. Motor Trend attempted to do this in the following video, but the comments coming in on the YouTube channel are proving our thoughts about this as well in regard to putting a manual up against a transmission just doesn’t make a lot of sense, that and we have to wonder if Motor Trend isn’t getting a little bit of kick back from BMW?

There really was much of a difference to be found at all in between tests, the BMW came out half a second ahead on speed, but would that have turned out the same if the BMW were also an automatic? The Cadillac was faster on straight aways but all the speeds were within fragments of a second apart which leads us to believe that these cars are pretty much matched in regard to power and performance. Pay attention to how the video adds a ROAR to the BMW over the Cadillac though, even when it does win out by a mere half second to get an idea of our thoughts about the favoritism in this particular video.

The Cadillac ATS seemed to come out ahead on actual road driving with being able to handle crisper turns, but apparently both of vehicles seem to handle better as automatics over the manual transmissions. The interior and technology wasn’t talked about, so the question is still out over which is the better choice in cars, although we are willing to bet that’s pretty much similar across the board for the Beamer and Caddy. It will probably boil down to if you want to drive American or opt for a European luxury sedan because there just might be a tie after all.
