No rivalry is more famous in the auto industry than the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. These muscle cars are what America is built around, power, speed, and a force to be reckoned with. Since 1967, when the Chevy Camaro first stepped into the limelight of hot roadsters, the race has been going strong between General Motors and Ford Motor Company to outdo one another in the road burning hot wheels category. The two latest models, the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 had to be put to the test and the results were enough to leave even the most well seasoned pony car aficionado left with their mouths dropped.
On paper, the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 has about 82 more horsepower than the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The Mustang is also several hundred pounds lighter than the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Since it debuted, the Mustang has been hailed as King of the Road because of these figures. While the Mustang can jump ahead of the Camaro pretty fast at the start, something amazing happens when you put their performance to the test going past the start up. The outcome was so amazing, testers had to run it twice just to make sure it was not some freak chance.
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 left the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 in the dust, turn after turn, in an effortless back roads cruise. These cars had faced each other since their debuts in web forums and auto shows and no one had expected the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to come out ahead the way it did and every corner was just another display of the Camaro’s triumph. One of the testers on hand for this amazing event referred to the Camaro with, “This might just be the best performance car General Motors has ever produced.”
