If you want to drive your own 2013 Mopar Dodge Dart home, you had better place your order now because only 500 of these limited edition cars are going to be released. This black and blue beauty will cost you $25,485 – $995 shipping fee not included. It’s not just the racy coloring that is special about this sporty compact either. It sits lower to the ground and comes with a chin spoiler, decklid spoiler and rear diffuser, along with gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels and that’s just for looks.

Of course, while the 2013 Mopar Dodge Dart looks sporty, and has a zippy little driving experience, it’s not going to melt your face off. It is going to sound like it does though because the the MultiAir turbocharged and intercooled 1.4 liter four cylinder engine has a Mopar sport tuned exhaust. This engine is mated to a six speed manual transmission and you can expect about 160 horsepower and 184 pound feet of torque to go along with it.

The interior of the 2013 Mopar Dodge Dart is souped up as well and has Katzkin leather covers on the seats with the driver’s seat getting the blue with black accents, while the other seats have black with blue accents. There is also the Chrysler Uconnect system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, bright sport-pedal kit, door-sill guards and premium Mopar floor mats.

2013 Mopar Dodge Dart drivers will also get a personalized owner kit in a custom-made black case. That kit has a personalized plate with vehicle specifications, unique identification number and production date; a limited-edition sketch of the car signed by Mark Trostle, Chrysler Group Chief Designer for the Mopar Brand; a copy of the Mopar ’13 Dart brochure and a collection of additional memorabilia that could very well be worth something someday.

Midsize Sedans are Starting a War

Posted by on Apr 10, 2013 in Automotive News, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen |

The midsize sedan segment is the most highly competitive out of all other vehicles. For the past few years, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord were the main contenders, but that changed with the new Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion throwing their weight around. Nipping at their heels has been the Chevy Malibu and Hyundai Sonata, and its game on. The Altima and Fusion are in a death match for the crown and to stay on top as “King of the Mountain” in the midsize category.

Bob Carter, Toyota Motor Sales’ senior vice president of automotive operations, said, “We feel really good about our position following a late build-out of the ’12 model. We are absolutely confident we will be the No. 1 [car] in the market in 2013.”

Well, apparently that’s smack talk because all the other automakers have their own perspective.

Victor Benitez, general manager of Gus Machado Ford, comments about the new Ford Fusion, “We now have a vehicle that can compete head-to-head with Camry and Accord. It’s a good-looking car.”

Don Johnson, Chevrolet’s vice president of sales and service, said, “Clearly it’s a very competitive segment, but it’s really that month-over-month trend that we like right now.” This is in light of the fact that Chevy Malibu sales rose more than 25% from February and March was the sedan’s best month since last August.

How is your favorite playing out in the battle to win the crown as top selling midsize sedan? Here is the rundown for sales so far for the year:

Sales to Date for 2013 Midsize Sedans

  1. Toyota Camry 100,830
  2. Honda Accord  88,427
  3. Nissan Altima 86,952
  4. Ford Fusion 80,558
  5. Chevy Malibu 49,179
  6. Hyundai Sonata 47,285
  7. Kia Optima 38,813
  8. Chrysler 200 36,885
  9. Dodge Avenger 32,047
  10. Volkswagen Passat  25,909

2014 SRT Viper TA Hand Built to Rule the Roadways Video

Posted by on Mar 19, 2013 in Automotive News, Dodge, Press Releases |

Viper fans are rejoicing because Dodge has just rolled out the fastest model yet, in fact, it’s so fast that it’s been dubbed the “TA” to stand for “Time Attack”. Of course, no one else is more capable of qualifying that claim to fame other then Randy Pobst who was given the keys to test it out for himself on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It’s not just the crusher orange color that makes the 2014 SRT Viper TA a screamin demon either, this car has the guts to go with the glory.

To be more specific, the 2014 SRT Viper TA hosts an all aluminum 2.4 liter mid front V10 overhead valve engine. This little engine that could gives 640 horsepower and 600 pound feet of torque making it the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports car engine in the world to date. This translates to going from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds and accomplishing a quarter mile stretch in 11.3 seconds at a comfortable cruising speed of 129.3 miles per hour.

Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC was more than happy to comment, “The new 2014 SRT Viper TA is being engineering for the dedicated track enthusiast, who still wants to drive to the track and take their hobby to the next level. We’re re-launching some of the fastest production-built cars that people can buy straight from the factory. Our engineers revised the suspension settings to refocus the Viper specifically for track duty, using a blend of components from the GTS and the SRT models, add in the extensively developed aero package and the new Time Attack package is born. We’re not only saluting the existing capabilities of our current models, we’re also targeting another niche in our customer base with a tremendously capable track machine.”

2013 Dodge Challenger V6 at Risk for Fire, Recall Issued

Posted by on Mar 18, 2013 in Automotive News, Dodge, Press Releases |

If you own a 2013 Dodge Challenger with a V6 that was built between November 2012 and January 2013, you better park it, away from your garage or any other buildings and call your dealership right away. Dealerships are prepared to issue loaner vehicles for you to drive until the issue with your Challenger can be corrected, at no cost to you of course. The reason for this is because Dodge has discovered a wiring issue which has lead to seven fires to date so far. None of these have lead to injuries, but it’s better to be safe than be sorry. Drivers will be notified by email and regular mail, but you can call your dealership at any time for them to come and pick up your vehicle.

The Full Press Release:

“Statement: Wiring Issue

March 17, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Chrysler Group is recalling approximately 2,500 model-year 2013 Dodge Challengers now in customer hands to address a potential short-circuit.

This condition could cause a wire harness to overheat and possibly lead to fire. Chrysler Group is aware of seven such incidents. None caused injury.

Affected owners are being contacted directly – by telephone and by mail. They are being advised to immediately refrain from driving their vehicles and to contact their dealers. Loaner vehicles will be provided, free of charge, until repairs are complete. Chrysler Group further advises affected owners not to park their vehicles in or near any structures.

Customers who are uncertain if they are affected should take the above precautions and inquire with their dealers.

This action affects only 2013 Dodge Challengers assembled with V-6 engines during an eight-week period ending Jan. 24, 2013.
