2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S Video Debut

Posted by on May 6, 2013 in Automotive News, Porsche, Press Releases | 0 comments

Hang onto your bonnets, Sunday driving just took a turn toward the fast lane with the new 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S! These models are built in celebration of 40 years of doing what only Porsche can do – which is to create power, performance and style that never goes out of style. The difficult part is in choosing whether to drive the Turbo or Turbo S home as the next new family member.

The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S have rear mounted turbocharged 3.8 liter flat six engines. The turbos are twin variable turbine geometry to fully optimize the capabilities. What this gives you for the straight turbo is a lightning fast is 520 horsepower. For an idea, you’ll get from 0 to 60 in just 3.2 seconds. What’s faster than lightning? Apparently the Turbo S edition. This super coupe ramps up the horses to 560, will get you from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds and you’ll happily cruise the highways and byways at around 198 miles per hour, although we suggest you don’t try that at home. Isn’t it nice to know you can if you want to though?

With all the power, handling is not just something nice to talk about, it’s a requirement and both the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S handle the roadways as if Porsche also built the roads just for these new models. They feature a new all wheel drive system with rear wheel steering. They also include a Porsche Traction Management AWD feature, electronically controlled and activated multi plate coupling and is water cooled. Of course all the other Porsche goodies for the interior, exterior and what goes under the hood are included with the highest quality materials.

You can expect to pay $148,300 for the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and $181,100 for the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S. Both of these also have an additional $950 destination fee and available options which will affect the pricing. You can expect to see them at your premiere Porsche dealership at the end of this year.

Porsche 911 GT3 at the Geneva Auto Show

Posted by on Mar 5, 2013 in Automotive News, Porsche, Press Releases |

The Porsche 911 fifth generation, better known at the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3  enjoyed the limelight at its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show and even the grumpiest critics were hard pressed to come up with anything negative about this iconic sportster. This new edition has been completely redesigned and re-engineered to work as a mean, clean speed machine.

The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3  hosts a 3.8 liter boxer engine that gives 475 horsepower, which is more than enough for this small coupe. This is the same engine that shows up in the Porsche 911 Carrera S although the crankshaft and valve gear in the GT3 are exclusive and include titanium connecting rods and forged pistons. The engine is mated to a specially developed Porsche dual clutch transmission (PDK) which powers the rear wheels. What all this means is the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 will take you from 0 to 60 in just 3.3 seconds and will comfortable top out at 195 miles per hour. Surprisingly, and especially in comparison to the other sportsters coming out, the GT3 is set to an affordable price of $130,400, not including the $950 destination fee.

To further enhance the power and performance of the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, and as mentioned, the power goes to the rear wheels for active rear wheel steering. That’s a first for Porsche, but it gives a higher steering precision along with improved lateral dynamics. Amazingly, the rear wheels will steer in the same or opposite directions of the front wheels to offer optimum stability and agility. To further sweeten the pot to make this sportster one of the highest performing on the road, are an electronically controlled, fully variable rear differential lock and dynamic engine mounts.

There really aren’t too many details about the interior of the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, but we are quite sure it has the top of line features that Porsche can possibly add.
