Fireball Run Adventurally, Fueled by the Fallen, Rolling 9/11 Tribute Search for Missing Children

The National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway and Throwaway Children (NISMART) found that more than 2,000 children are reported missing every day in the U.S. and almost 800,000 disappear each year.  The study also found that pictures on posters are the single most important tool in finding a missing child.

Sponsored by Chevrolet, Fireball Run Adventurally travels over 2,500 miles to 15 cities in an 8 Day Race to help Recover America’s Missing Children and this year Fueled by the Fallen memorial tribute cars will join the event as the September rally marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with a special tribute.

Fueled by the Fallen Memorial Tribute Car Tour is a non-profit that assists in supporting Public Safety Personnel, Members of the Military and their families.  Fueled by the Fallen helps with emotional, physical and financial recovery by racing and displaying Memorial Tribute cars.  Fueled by the Fallen, the Memorial Tribute Car Tour was founded by Kevyn Major Howard, (“Rafterman” from the blockbuster film Full Metal Jacket).

Acting as honor guard for the rally’s police escort out of destination cities, a specially-designed 2011 Chevrolet Camaro ‘First Responders Memorial’ car and a mint-condition 2001 Crown Victoria ‘National Law Enforcement Memorial’ police cruiser will also compete in the rally.  Both memorial cruisers are covered with the names of more than 1,000 police officers and first responders that lost their lives on and since September 11, 2001.

The Fireball Run covers more than 2,500 miles traveling to 15 cities in an 8 Day Race to help Recover America’s Missing Children.  Each team in the rally is assigned a missing child from their home area and given posters to distribute along the route.  The largest active recovery effort in the country, the rally has assisted in recovering 36 missing children.

The Fueled by the Fallen teams “Angel 1” and “Officer Down” will also be representing missing California children; Hassani Campbell and Laurence K. Brannum.  In addition, two USO Teams will take part in the Firball Run as part of the 9/11 Tribute along with NASCAR legend Geoff Bodine and Space Shuttle Astronaut Winston Scott who will be searching for two Melbourne, Florida siblings.

The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally “Southern Excursion” starts September 23 on Florida’s Space Coast and ends October 1, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
