Ford engineers and designers have done an amazing job creating a special edition Mustang GT specifically to honor the Red Tails, the black Tuskegee Airmen who flew P51 Mustangs and bombers in World War II. This 600 horsepower super sports car will be shown off at the EAA Air Venture in OshKosh, Wisconsin and auctioned off during the Gathering of Eagles in order to give support to the Young Eagles program. This program give youth a chance to experience general aviation flying. Red Tails VIN 00051 sounds as if it’s going to be one hot piece of car.
Edsel B. Ford II, Ford’s Board of Directors member commented personally on this fantastic, yet non flying machine. He said, “The perseverance and excellence displayed by the Tuskegee Airmen are qualities we also celebrate at Ford. With this year’s beautiful ‘Red Tails’ edition Mustang, we’ve captured the recognizable symbols in honor of their important role in our history, and paired it with the innovation our Ford design and engineering teams build into all of our products. Through this project we take great pride in continuing our support for EAA and the Young Eagles organization.”
The EEA President and CEO, Rod Hightower was also on hand and commented, “Ford is a longtime, committed partner of EAA and AirVenture, bringing value to those who make Oshkosh the pinnacle of their aviation year. These specialty vehicles allow EAA to provide support to its valuable programs and dedicated members in helping us grow the next generation of aviators.”
Imagine, a Mustang GT with a glass roof, special non production aluminum look paint finish with a sporty red tail and red and yellow trim. The Ford Red Tails Edition Mustang GT also has a Boss grille and rear spoiler, Roush rockers and 20 inch Forgiotto wheels. You can check out the video of more of this hot sportser for yourself.
