$459 Million is being invested into the General Motor’s Rosario Automotive Complex in Argentina between 2013 and 2015 in order to tool up for an all new Chevrolet product that will be sold worldwide. While General Motors made this announcement, they weren’t willing to mention anything at all about this brand new Chevy that will be built, only that it will be available everywhere. Anyway, this money that is being invested in the Argentine plant is coming from money that the plant has made due to the 135,000 vehicles it built last year.
Dan Akerson, Chairman and CEO said, “We are pleased to be making this investment in Argentina, which remains a very important market for us. We have a long, proud history here dating to 1925 and our latest investment is certainly good news for our GM Argentina employees, our extensive dealer and supplier network and the local economy. We also have an excellent relationship with the Argentine government and would like to thank President Fernández de Kirchner for her ongoing support in making today’s announcement possible.
General Motors Argentina President Isela Costantini added, This new model to be based on a global platform will run in addition to the models we are currently manufacturing in our plant and will allow us to supply the regional and domestic market with even more high-quality, high value Chevrolet products. It is a huge vote of confidence for the entire GM Argentina team and the country.”
$450 Million should go a long way to creating an outstanding new vehicle for General Motor’s Chevy lineup. We will stay tuned to when further news is released about this new vehicle. With all the latest developments in technology and fuel economy that have been made, we expect that this should be a revolutionary new Chevy version.
