More than likely new-car buyers aren’t shopping both their local Porsche and Infiniti dealerships, but in one segment of the auto industry both automakers come into play. That segment is in high-performance hybrid luxury sedans.
So discussion has turned to Porsche Panamera S Hybrid and the Infiniti M35h. Each of them is marketed as both a performance sedan and a greener luxury car. Most likely, it is the performance of the sedans that grabs the interest of the majority of buyers, but they find a welcomed bonus in the fuel efficiency.
The interesting question is which one is faster? Usually, the word “fast” is equated to top speed. When you ask about acceleration, you ask which one is the quickest. If you’re looking the quickest, the Infiniti M35h out-accelerates the Porsche. Motor Trend states the hybrid M goes from 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds which is pretty impressive, but that isn’t the statistic that Infiniti is concerned with. The M35h is “faster” than the Panamera S Hybrid going from 0 to 100 in 11.54 seconds and doing a quarter mile in 13.41 seconds.
The EPA estimates the milage of the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid to be 22 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, for a combined rating of 25. The estimated milage for the M35h is 27 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway, for a combines rating of 29, so the Infiniti takes the award for both economy and acceleration.
