Who would think that a $375,000 starting price supercar would be at risk for selling out? That is more than most Middle American mortgages, but that is exactly what is happening with the Lexus LFA. It looks as if they will be sold out quickly. Most of the models have sold to states like California and Florida, which makes a lot of sense. We would be willing to bet New York and Texas has sold a few as well, all though we have no confirmation on that.
While selling out, especially of such a high end product is fantastic news for Lexus, we do need to keep in mind that only 500 models were made, with 200 of them being released in the United States for Americans to scoop up. The law of supply and demand is proving the demand might outweigh the supply. Tim Morrison, Lexus U.S. Vice President of Sales said, “The supply is down to single digits.” According to Tim, most of those that are left are already in the hands of dealers and probably no longer available for general sales. This means, if you want one and have the cash, you had better find one and drive it home today or you’ll just be out of luck.
The Lexus LFA has the reputation of being the most unlike the overall Lexus brand. It leaves us wondering if Lexus has learned anything about why this model would be so hot, while their other models are left in the dust of their own competition? It will be interesting to watch and see if Lexus begins to at least add elements of the LFA version to their other high end luxury sedans. In the meantime, the Lexus LFA is considered to be on its way to becoming hot property for car collectors, especially in the near future when there are no more models on the market.
