While leaked images and sneak peeks of vehicles are almost expected when they are going through a whole range of updates, the Mazda3 really seems to be jumping the gun with leaked photos. The new model is not expected to come out until sometime next year, but people just can’t seem to give it a rest with renderings, and talk about what they think Mazda is going to do to this favorite model compact. We do know that they are planning on using their new Kodo design theme, but beyond that, mum has been the word from the Mazda development team and anyone else who might have insider information to the plans of the next new Zoom Zoom set for release.
The image you see is a digital image, purportedly from Mazda, but it’s not confirmed as an actual image of what the Mazda3 will really look like. What we see could be a concept vehicle or just a design proposal. What is interesting about it though is it looks as if it’s intended to compete in a new class than what it had previously been shooting for when it first came out in 2009. You can see some definite inspiration from the CX-5 and Mazda2, but with a sleek new sportiness that makes the previous model bubbly appearance obsolete, much like what has been done with the Mazda6.
Mazda was contacted for comments about this leaked image. Jeremy Barnes, Mazda’s Director of Public Relations was kind enough to respond. His answer was, “Any speculation about a next-generation Mazda3 is just that – speculation. And, as a policy, we do not comment on future product speculation.”
It looks as if we are all left guessing until Mazda is ready to finally debut the next generation Mazda3. In the meantime, there is plenty of room to imagine.
