Official images of the McLaren P1 are taking the internet by storm and being called the “Ultimate supercar”. This new version will debut next week at the Paris Auto Show and the current plans are that there are twelve months to go before the production of this new beauty. It will give people plenty of time to dream. While we have nothing other than pictures now, we will have information about the engine and other features that this car promises soon.
McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman Ron Dennis say, “P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage. Twenty years ago we raised the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with P1 is to redefine it once again.”
Don’t think that the McLaren is going to go for the throats of its competitors by trying to be bigger and badder though. From the sounds of it, the McLaren P1 is being built for performance and technology, more than sheer road burning momentum.
“Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit’, says McLaren Automotive Managing Director Antony Sheriff. ‘It is the true test of a supercar’s all round ability and a much more important technical statement. It will be the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.”
Words can be deceiving though and the picture promises that while the McLaren P1 may not be going for top speeds, it’s bound to be going for something powerful. The P1 is inspired by the McLaren racing division and according to McLaren, it has one simple goal. That is to be the best driver’s car in the world on road and track.
