Mercedes-Benz is well-known for their luxury sports cars and touring packages. So they had to go one more step up. They have entered the world of SUVs in a big way. If you loved what they had in their coupes and sports cars, you will be impressed with the line of SUVs that they are introducing for 2013.
Most notably, they have introduced the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL450. Even through a recession from 2007 to 2009, the automaker has managed to hit the “luxury button” in consumers throughout the world. This newest addition seems to follow that tradition. With some great designers and even better marketers, the full-sized SUV hit the market in a big way.
The GL Class is aimed at buyers around 48 years old, with some great perks for families. Those include more fuel-efficient drivetrain options, more interior space and an air-ride suspension. Although their “recipe” isn’t perfect, it did put the line above the line of Cadillac models available.
The design elements are based on other siblings, like the CSL class, which was and still is popular to Mercedes-Benz. The new GL450 takes the best of the GL350 and the GL550 and combines them into a package that offers a bigger vehicle with more stability. The increase in size is not noticeable to the driver, but that stability is.
The front fascia is similar to other models, lending a trademark look to the vehicle. But the LED daytime running lights are tucked safely away in the lower bumper, with protection headlamps that fit smoothly into the body line. Needless to say, there is some great chrome trim that is standard with the vehicle.
Some interior features do not measure up to those of the Cadillac Cue or the Audi MMI, but the interior space seems to capture the attention of buyers for the vehicle. Although the vehicle feels heavy behind the wheel, it is drawing the attention of the target market.
