Nissan Leaf Sales Going Strong
People are getting excited about the Nissan Leaf. Sales, orders and reservations are going strong. Last September Nissan reported that 20,000 reservations have been received. That total is now up to 26,000. While that is an impressive number, to date there have only been about 10,000 sold and a reported 12,400 cancellations on the reservations.
Katherine Zachary from Nissan reports that the Japanese Automaker keeps cancellation information confidential. She is on record with saying, “We have new people coming into the process every day, so it’s really a moving target.”With that in mind, there is no way to clearly estimate how many of the 12,400 cancellations were cancelled due to them being one of the 10,000 that purchased a Nissan leaf or not. What is reported is that 800 Leaf’s were sold in January, and 800 in February. These are sell out months, or close to being sold out.
While some people may have been tired of waiting for the Nissan Leaf to come available in their area, there are still 2,000 patiently waiting for their reserved models. Those 2,000 people are counted in the 12,400 possible cancellations. Although they may still get their reserved Nissan Leaf’s if they wait a bit longer.
The orders that are currently on record for the 2012 Nissan Leaf are broken up into color preferences. It seems that Brilliant Silver, with 24% of people choosing that color, and Blue Ocean, with 23% choosing that color are the two top favorites. Glacier Pearl comes in at a close 21%, with Cayenne Red coming in at 19%. The least popular color for this car is Super Black. Only 14% want this color car.
If you are planning on purchasing a Nissan Leaf, or just like the looks of it, what color do you think is the most attractive choice?
