A jury of women automotive writers from 12 countries all put their heads together to come up with the 2012 Women’s World Car of the Year Award. The winners are now in and congratulations goes to the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque for taking honors. The Range Rover Evoque took first place in both the luxury car and the Supreme Winner segments out of this yearly coveted Car of the Year Award. The other categories in this competition are Family Car, Sports Car and Economy Car. Unfortunately, only one American made car was named as a winner in any of the segments, but maybe the American automakers have too much testosterone to be favored by women drivers. It’s certainly something for them to keep in mind. Of course Chevy has picked up on this rather well and is currently marketing the Malibu as a women friendly choice of great driving sedans. Perhaps they’ll get named in next year’s awards.
While the first place winners in each category for the 2012 Women’s World Car of the Year Award were clear across the board for all jurors, the second and third place winners changed multiple times as the votes were coming in from each country. It was interesting to see that the BMW 3 Series won the Family Car of the Year category as the images of soccer moms across the country seem to prefer something a little more child friendly. The Porsche 911 seems to make sense as the top Sports Car and of course the Honda Civic would make it for top economy car, but what do you think? Were these ladies right on target to accurately representing the women drivers of the world? Here is the breakdown:
