With less than 24 hours to go until the 2012 Paris Motor Show gets underway, all the automakers are gearing up and teasers and leaks are coming out all over the place. Volkswagen certainly couldn’t be left out of all the preliminary excitement and the Volkswagen GTI images have shown up for Volkswagen fans to get preliminary glance at. This new study is actually extremely close to what the produced version will end up looking like when it makes its appearance at dealerships across Europe next year. It won’t come to America until a little bit later, although there is no confirmed date on the United States version.
The first batch of photos of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Concept were unloaded on the internet today, less than 24 hours ahead of the car’s reveal at the 2012 edition of the Paris Motor Show. This new hot hatch looks as if it has taken inspiration from the best of the best of Volkswagen including honeycomb upper and lower front grilles, highlighted attractively with red accents, but not they extend to angular headlamps. The five spoke alloy wheels and two large exhaust pipes give an indication to the performance and handling. There are also darkened tail lamps, a black rear diffuser, roof spoiler and LED headlamps to set the body style off to a great looking all around ride.
The interior of the Volkswagen Golf GTI looks like it got its own set of updates as well. There are body hugging sports seats and a flat bottom steering wheel that promise to make driving fun and comfortable. There is no confirmation as far as what will be hosted under the hood though. The rumor is that we can expect a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that will give an aggressive 217 horsepower and 258 pound feet of torque. From the sounds of it, this may be one of the best Volkswagen models to come out in quite some time.
