Volkswagen Group of America’s electronics research laboratory is currently accepting applications and if you involved in a technology startup, you might want to think about contacting them. Specifically, Volkswagen is looking for 10 startups to join their new Plug and Play program. They are looking for those in the social media and recommendation engines, vehicle related mobile device integration, parking apps, detection apps, display and data integration, voice and sound recognition and visual computing categories.
For this new program, Volkswagen is teaming up with Silicon Valley’s Plug and Play Tech Center in order to create an incubator for the next generation automotive technologies. Plug and Play is a company in Sunnyvale, California that founded in 2006 to help early stage startups commercialize their ideas and new technology. The startups that are chosen for this specific program will have tons of perks including access to hundreds of companies, investors and mentors that are all ready involved in the Plug and Play’s network. They will also be provided office space and other support needed to get their ideas off the ground and into a working product among other types of support.
“Innovation is an integral part of Volkswagen Group’s long-term product strategy and we take every opportunity to engage the brightest minds in technology to help define the future direction of automobiles,” Peter Oel, executive director of the VW Group’s electronics research laboratory, said in a statement.
