Fans of the “Back to the Future” and “Batman” salivate over this tricked out Delorean owned by recording artist Will.i.am. Sadly, this gorgeous hunk of road burning metal is cooling its heels in the slammer after it was brought in due to Will.i.am’s choice to drive it around town without its plates. There is also an unreported title issue with the registration that is keeping the Delorean in lock up until Will.i.am or his attorneys can get all the red tape and paperwork in order correctly. We have to wonder how this vehicle is being cared for in custody and how many of the city’s finest have had to take a turn sitting behind the wheel and dreaming about what it would be like to put this super sports car through its paces.
While you may think this is just a case of a spoiled rock star gone wrong, it couldn’t be further from the truth. The Delorean actually has a philanthropic purpose that goes along with its sharp styling and teenage boy dream-making quality. This car is a prototype creation for Will.I.am’s new company, IAMAUTO. This new company is being launched in the Los Angeles area, where Will.i.am grew up. As the energy filled front man for the Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am has the resources to create this company in order to bring jobs into an area that has been down on its luck for quite some time now.
Will.i.am has been cooperative in every way throughout the impound process and having a friend pick him up so he could continue to work on getting the proper paperwork together to spring his Delorean from the impound lot. The amazing looking ride is a customized construction using a donor Delorean and Dodge Challenger pieces that West Coast Customs built for Will.i.am.
